Snow Striders are for preschoolers and grade school age children with one-on-one help to give them the right first step on skis. Night Gliders are for 4th to 8th grade children which allows young racers an opportunity to learn more about diagonal and skating techniques. The High School Ski Team promotes an interest in cross country skiing at Wausau West, Wausau East, Wausau Newman and D.C. Everest. Newsletters from the Wausau Nordic Ski Club are interesting and informative monthly reports from November through March reporting about in-season meetings, featuring entertaining programs and guest speakers that are designed to be informal gatherings with a social evening celebrating the season's beginning and a potluck at the season's close. The Ski Swap helps to finance Club projects and sponsor High School teams. The Snekkevik Ski Race is the oldest continuing organized ski race in the state held in January at Nine Mile Forest. Some of the state's finest skiers enter the Badger State Winter Games consisting of two days of racing at Nine Mile Forest. Our membership resources are used to improve and maintain six trails in the county. Our club has invested in sophisticated grooming equipment intended to provide the best possible tracks for area skiers.
